sensu @ manna, with pliiant, pub, vakula & immer chic

a new manna event, in support of the Meakusma DVD release party ... featuring Pliiant, Vakula, Pub,Immer.Chic and Sensu

Sensu dj 3pm-5pm

One of the original minimal dj's from Brussels. Sensu's sets focus on the unexpected and can in some way even be called eclectic. Organising events with the Plain crew and with Manna, Sensu is a solid part of the Brussels underground scene, playing all over Belgium and spreading his very own take on the electronic music gospel.

Immer.Chic dj 5pm - 7pm

A project formed by Julian Jöckel and Gregory Schuchmann as a result of their enormous passion for electronic music. Since 1999, they have been producing a very diverse body of electronic music tracks, together with different musicians or just with synthesizers and a computer. As Midnight Opera their engaging dj sets are touch upon film music, 80's electronic punk, house, soul, etc.

Pub vs Pliiant live 7pm - 8pm

Well known for integrating any particular style or sound, Pub provides the melodies for the dissonant, percussive clutter created by Pliiant. On their only EP together, released on Ampoule, they reshaped the formulaic structures of electronica and experimental hip hop to set these genres back on track towards freestyle variation and improvisation.

Vakula dj 8pm - 10pm

Vakula was born in the 80's in a small ancient town called Putivl in the north of Ukraine. With his innovative and complex method of layering different rhythms and building song structures, he breaks with the traditional patterns of loop-oriented house music and shows how to produce tracks of the complexity that sometimes shows up in sophisticated jazz music.

Pliiant live 10-11pm

Pliiant just delivers beautiful, thoughtful music. No major pretensions - anything goes, as long as it comes from a place closer to the heart than to the mind. Early releases on Ampoule and Talent Hoover were characterised by atmospheric and densely layered Electronica. The recently released mini-album ‘Gnipps’ was an acoustic masterpiece and at the moment, his head is seriously into upfront stuff with a twist.

Screening of rüts DVD

In the second room at Faro, a selection of clips from the 'rüts' DVD will be screened. The DVD has been compiled in collaboration with Ampoule records from Glasgow and contains 25 videoclips & 6 short films and a special treat.

i see my self as a live dj, someone that needs an audience to play, i'm very much a vinyl person, i need to be able to physically feel what i play and vinyl comes closest to this aim i have, the frequencies are better, more interesting and there's the object of course, much more tactile than mp3's, also there's the apparent contradiction in playing vinyl that contains futuristic musical information, in my opninion, a lot of electronic music plays with contradictions or seemingly contradictory elements...i've been playing minimal music for a few years now, this minimal stance always drew my attention, whether it was techno or house or even classical music, basic channel and all things berlin ten years ago are a big influence, first and second wave detroit producers, dub and reggae, modern classical music, but equally the first european wave of electronic pop music in the seventies...ah well...it is difficult to mention influences because music is always and still changing, it is every music lover's experience to discover new and inspiring things all the time
